Defence Lab fights off the competition at the British Martial Arts Awards 2017

On Saturday 22nd April 2017, local martial arts and self defence instructor Dan Holloway won the prestigious `Rising Star` award at the British Martial Arts Awards 2017 as well as coming runner up for `Book of the Year` with his book Martial Masters Volume 1.

The awards were held in the beautiful grounds of Lilleshall National Sports Centre, with over 200 people in attendance and a 3 course meal and entertainment during the awards ceremony. 

Martial artists from around the country gathered to show support to those nominated and Dan Holloway was lucky enough to win the `Rising Star` award, showing his dedication and hard work in building his own martial arts business in Lincoln. 

Dan runs Defence Lab Lincoln, a global network of martial arts and fitness facilities that teaches both adults and children. Defence Lab have famously featured in the movies of Batman Begins and Jack Reacher among other blockbusters, after the Defence Lab founder Andy Norman was bought on as Fight Consultant for the films. 

Upon receiving the award, Dan said:

`It's an honour to be awarded the `Rising Star`award at the British Martial Arts Awards 2017, as well as coming runner up for Book of the Year. A massive thank you to everyone who voted for me and after 20 years in martial arts it's great to finally have my own club in Lincoln, teaching a system that is recognised around the world for its effectiveness.`
