Downtown Announce Plans to Develop a new designer outlet centre in Grantham

Oldrids & Downtown have revealed plans to be the chosen location for Grantham’s new Designer Outlet Centre. Richard Broadhead, Managing Director, revealed the Company’s exciting plans to Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce last week and spoke about their intentions to redevelop its existing offer at Grantham to create ‘Downtown Grantham Designer Outlet’ – an investment worth £125 million to the Lincolnshire economy.

If approved, the Designer Outlet Centre could be open as soon as 2019.

The development is set to create 1700 new jobs and bring a number of additional benefits and enhancements to the regional economy, and will additionally protect the existing 700 jobs of those currently employed on the Grantham site.

Managing Director, Richard Broadhead spoke to Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce saying;

“We’re confident that this is great news for Grantham and Lincolnshire.”

“In addition to retail, the overall development will bring significant advantages for the business community. We will be working closely with businesses to ensure we maximise the potential and deliver a valuable contribution for everyone in the area”.

“We are part of Grantham, we are important to Grantham and Grantham is important to us.”

If given the green light the development will feature approximately 107 designer outlet stores, a Training Academy, a high-tech business hub (complete with office space and conference facilities), a brand new garden centre of the future, inspiring architecture and landmark buildings, 2,000 car parking spaces and a Tourist Information and Visitor Centre.

Oldrids & Downtown are hopeful that the development of the site will serve as a catalyst to enable the construction of a brand new railway station providing easy and efficient access to and from Grantham station, which already has a direct line to London.

Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce will be issuing further updates on this story as the development progresses.
