The Specialist Skills Advisor Programme has industry specialists working with training providers and FE colleges to fill skills gaps within existing training provision and support the development of new training courses where needed. It will support your business to identify and find solutions to training needs, for the growth and sustainability of your company.

The Specialist Skills Advisor programme has been developed by the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership (GLLEP) and is funded by the Skills Funding Agency and European Social Fund. Led by Bishop Grosseteste University, the main aim of the programme is to support businesses by analysing employers’ organisational, training and skills needs; and to determine if there are any gaps to be filled which could support business growth. Industry specialists will collaborate with F.E. colleges and training providers to fill skills gaps with existing training provision, or explore whether new training course development may be possible.

What is the Process?


A personal Business Skills Advisor will be assigned to work with your business to discuss your commitments and agree the scope and timescale for the programme of work. The process will involve some or all of the following dependant on your specific business requirements:

  • An initial in depth conversation to gather business information, understand the future goals of the business and register your business onto the programme
  • Agreement on how the training needs of your business will be investigated and collated – this may involve employee surveys, informal interviews or focus groups 
  • Collation and interpretation of the consultations to determine business objectives and accompanying training needs across the business in the form of a Training Needs Analysis
  • A flexible, concise action plan will be agreed with short term and long term goals
