As part of its charity of the year fundraising efforts, 13 representatives of LACE Housing are gearing up to take part in the Asda Foundation City of Lincoln 10K.
The charitable organisation, which provides specialist housing and support services for older and vulnerable people in Lincolnshire and the surrounding area, is championing LIVES as its charity of the year for 2018.
On Sunday 1st July, LACE Housing’s Chief Executive Nick Chambers will complete the race as one of the 50 challenges he’s pledged to take on to mark his 50th year.
He will be joined by six colleagues and representatives from LACE Housing, plus six friends and supporters from Lincolnshire firms Longhurst Group and Lincoln Energy Surveys and the NHS.
Nick said: “Having manned the phones at HQ, served lunch and cut the grass for some of our tenants, the Lincoln 10K is going to be one of the more demanding challenges but it’s for a very worthy cause.
“And it’s great to be joined by friends and colleagues who are willing to spend a Sunday morning supporting our fundraising efforts.”
Throughout the last two years, LACE Housing has raised over £9,000 for Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation (NSIF) and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) through its charity of the year initiative.
LIVES is a team of medics, doctors and first responders who attend around 200,000 emergency calls in Lincolnshire every year.
Nick said: “As a charitable organisation, we’re always keen to support other good causes wherever possible. I’ve always been impressed by the dedication and passion of everyone at LIVES so, when we came to choose our charity of the year for 2018, it was a clear winner.
“The Lincoln 10K team and I will be wearing bright yellow LIVES jerseys so be sure to cheer us on if you spot us on the day.”
