Have a Happy Healthy Mind this May with free event at Ayscoughfee Hall

Everyone is invited to take some time to feel good this month, with a range of free and relaxing activities on offer at Ayscoughfee Hall as it hosts two Happy Healthy Minds events in support of Mental Health Awareness Week.

The sessions, run by South Holland District Council’s Community Development team, will take place on Saturday 11 May and Wednesday 15 May from 11am - 4pm. A variety of different opportunities will be on offer during the day for people of all ages and abilities to take part in, including relaxing exercise sessions like yoga and Pure Stretch, gardening activities, arts and crafts, mindfulness sessions, guided walks, equine therapy (Saturday only) and much more.

As well as the activities, local organisations and groups will have stalls on the day to share more information on self-care and some of the services that are available in the District to help with mental health and wellbeing.

Mental Health Awareness Week has taken place every year since 2001 in the UK, helping to raise awareness of topics including stress, relationships, loneliness, sleep, alcohol and friendship. The main topic for this year is body image, with almost 1 in 3 people last year saying that they have felt so stressed by body image and appearance that they felt overwhelmed or unable to cope.

People are welcome to come for half an hour on their lunchbreak or for the full day, and the event is completely free to attend. More information, including a more detailed timetable, can be found on the SHDC Community Development team’s Facebook page, or by contacting them on community@sholland.gov.uk or 01775 761161.
