Lincoln photographer receives £3000 help from the Daily Mail

David Harrison, the Lincoln business photographer, has been chosen from thousands to receive a £3,000 business assistance package of advertising by Mail Metro Media and the Federation of Small Businesses.

Recognising how tough the current situation is for small businesses and sole traders the package was put together by the owner of the Daily Mail in partnership with the FSB.

With all grants and loans out of reach for a sole trader without a long trading history, David wondered if there was any chance of getting any financial assistance to promote his growing business.

During the last 10 weeks David has been running a once a week small business help group – ‘Learning in Lockdown’ – with associates from various networking groups around the city. The idea being to help others that weren’t getting help elsewhere with practical discussions and exchanging ideas to improve their business futures.

One of these business friends, FSB member Lesley Burton, told David about the opportunity.

David recalls “when I heard about the FSB promotion package from Lesley, I immediately investigated and decided to complete the bid form. Despite the lack of government financial support and the uncertainty of the Coronavirus lockdown, I still had huge confidence in my business and its future.”

David’s application, detailing the focus of his business, what advertising he would do and how the pandemic had affected his business, was approved from over 6,000 applications.

In a good news story twist, Lesley’s application was also approved along with another of the Learning in Lockdown members, George Kemish.

David added “I am absolutely delighted to be chosen for this help from a national media group – I didn’t expect to be one of the chosen companies given the number applying. It just goes to show that anything is possible if you have a strong plan. But equally I am delighted for Lesley and George too!”
