Read MoreLincoln Area DialaRide are looking for a location to park nine minibuses.
Their previous location is being redeveloped and currently the buses are being parked on Volunteers and staff driveways around Lincoln. Logistically, along with the work on Pelham Bridge, this is proving a challenge for the charity. With having to allow additional time between collections and drop offs, this will impact on the number of people with mobility needs that they can support.
When Volunteer drivers collect their buses, they would need to leave their cars parked in the space where the bus is, and they would require access 24/7 as they do transport passengers to any location in mainland UK, so volunteer drivers may be late back or have an early start. Additionally if the area was gated, with a lockable storage area to keep some equipment for the buses.
If there was a space that the charity could use, then they may be able to apply for funding or a grant to add the security features and lockable space.
The charity say they have been so lucky to have had all their fleet together and for them to be so close to the office, which is now in the new Central Car park. Ideally if there was a company or organisation in the area that could allow them to share any space that is available it would help immensely.
Many of DialaRide’s passengers are only able to get out of their homes by using the charity’s services.
During lockdown they have collaborated with other groups like the foodbank to assist them in reaching those who were isolating or unable to get out to collect from the foodbanks. The charity strongly believes in supporting their customers , having signed the Lincoln Social Responsibility Charter they support local businesses, and hope that perhaps someone may be able to help.
