Read MoreYOUNG people in Lincolnshire are being given the chance to develop life skills, increase their confidence and enhance their career prospects through a programme being delivered by Riverside Training.
Gainsborough-based Riverside Training, part of Acis Group, has been awarded funding by CLIP to deliver Career Net to 15-24-year-olds across the county from August.
It is being co-financed by the European Social Fund and Education and Skills Funding Agency.
The programme aims to increase young people’s employability skills, build resilience and raise aspirations while integrating learning to improve key skills like literacy, numeracy and digital skills – including social media awareness and the importance of online safety.
As part of the programme, Riverside Training will also deliver a Launch Pad summer school project aimed to help 14-19-year-olds to improve communication, promote independent living and help learners prepare for exams or employment. It will run two days a week over four weeks.
Emily Humphries, Career Net Project Lead at Riverside Training, said: “We’re extremely proud to extend our delivery to support more people across Lincolnshire. This wide-ranging programme will help young people progress towards further learning, work-based training opportunities and sustainable employment.”
Amanda Bouttell leads on Employment & Skills at West Lindsey District Council and has seen the benefits that the Career Net project has had within the area. She said: “Over 160 young people from West Lindsey have participated in this programme since April 2019 and there is positive progression into jobs, training, Apprenticeships and Traineeships.
“This programme supports the Council’s objectives to improve local access to training and employment for residents. I would strongly urge school leavers and young people who are undecided about their next steps to sign up to the Launch Pad programme over the summer.
Anyone interested in taking part in either scheme can email Riverside Training at enquiries@riverside-training.org.uk
Riverside Training also offers a wide range of courses, programmes and qualifications to help people realise their full potential. For more information, visit www.riverside-training.org.uk
