Read MoreOngo is continuing work on their 2023 ‘Decent Homes’ project, which will see hundreds of tenants benefitting from new kitchens, bathrooms and improvements.
Ongo has over 10,000 homes across Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire and surrounding areas. Many of these are over 50 years old, making projects like these vital to keep stock maintained.
Homes are selected following stock surveys, which determine work needed based on the age and condition of current installations.
Between April 2022 and March 2023, costing in the region of £1.1million, 197 kitchens, 77 bathrooms and 47 rewires will have been completed.
A new £2.6million programme will then launch from April 2023 and will see around 140 bathrooms and 450 kitchens replaced, along with any rewires needed.
Gemma has been an Ongo tenant for 10 years. She said: “I had a whole new kitchen fitted, they knocked a wall down and added a new toilet too.
“Before, only one of us could be in the kitchen at any time and with having a family, that’s not practical. There is now so much more room, it looks great we’re all really happy with it.
“This meant we had a lovely Christmas too, it was much easier and I can’t thank the team enough.”
Stephen, another Ongo tenant commented: “I had my wet room done and it’s absolutely fabulous, they’ve gone miles beyond what they needed to and I couldn’t be more pleased.
“It gives me more independence and makes life easier for me, and for my carers too. It has made a huge difference.”
Ongo is also carrying out further works valued at over £4million to redecorate their retirement living homes, upgrade fire doors in their high-rise buildings, upgrade car parks, replace roofs, repair structural damage and more over the coming months.
Pete Stones, Director of Property at Ongo said: “We make huge investments like these every year, as homes are flagged up, but 2023 especially will see an increased number of upgrades.
“These projects are a way of us managing our stock, making sure they are fit for purpose and tenants who live in our existing homes get the upgrades they need and deserve.
“I believe one of our most important jobs as a landlord is to invest in our growing stock of over 10,000 homes so I’m extremely pleased to see that happening with these projects.”
