Read MoreNicholsons Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers is proudly celebrating its 100th anniversary. Much has changed since the business was started in 1923 by John Nicholson, but the firm has always been proud to be more than just accountants.
John Nicholson founded the business in 1923 and ran it as a sole trader until 1938 when he was joined in partnership by George Kelsey and Jack Hibbs. John was a remarkable character who was often found cycling through the lanes in Lincolnshire as he visited farming clients on his pushbike. Since 1938 there have been a number of Partners who over the years have all been custodians of the business, focused on being here to help, and standing tall in the communities they worked and lived in.
In the 80’s, a second office was opened in Market Rasen and over its 100 years, the firm has expanded serving not just the agriculture sector, but a wide range of businesses working in Lincolnshire and beyond.
Emma Murray, Director at Nicholsons Chartered Accountants says, “It is an amazing achievement to have successfully completed 100 years in business. In that time, we’ve not only seen technology change the world, but it’s changed the accounting world too. We’ve always embraced this to ensure we can continue to deliver the best service, with the best technology possible. Reaching 100 years is a significant milestone in our history, but it will not change a single thing that we do. Our continued success is because we have the best team who work tirelessly to look after our clients, and we will never lose sight of that.”
Nicholsons kicked off their year of celebrations with a new year’s party on 1 February at their office in Lincoln. Steve Robinson, Director at Nicholsons Chartered Accountants said “Many business owners come back after the Christmas break with time to think about the year ahead. We are generally straight back into a month dealing with tax returns before the 31 January deadline, so we thought we’d celebrate that on 1 February!”
Richard Hallsworth, Director at Nicholsons Chartered Accountants, concludes “Our anniversary provides the ideal opportunity to look back and reflect upon all that has been achieved. We’ve come a long way from John Nicholson visiting farmers on his bike, and now offer a wide range of services to our clients, across a number of sectors, to provide them with everything they need. We’ve not forgotten our roots, but we have some really exciting future plans to look forward to, and I for one can’t wait.”
