Meet Ongo Board member, Gerraint Oakley

Gerraint Oakley joined Ongo in 2023 as a member of Ongo Homes Board and Chair of Ongo Developments Board, helping to oversee activities of the group and their development programme.

Along with his role on the Board, Gerraint is Executive Director of Growth and Development at Platform Housing Group, a 47,000 home housing association based in the Midlands.

His previous roles include Managing Director of Curo’s house building business in Bath and Regional Managing Director of Keepmoat Homes in the South West.

He has also worked at Barratt Developments throughout the UK, and Vodafone for 10 years, where he was a Global Strategy Manager.

With over 30 years’ experience in property, real estate, asset management, development and urban regeneration, he offers a wealth of knowledge to Ongo’s Board.

He has a passion for developing affordable homes, creating opportunities for apprenticeships, graduate programmes, and access to employment.

He also offers coaching and mentoring for people starting out in their career, or those looking to develop.

Out of work Gerraint enjoys endurance cycling, completing 1,000 miles over nine days, twice, to raise funds for children’s charities, along with being a ride leader in his local club, and cycling and hiking with his family.

When asked about why he wanted to join Ongo he said: “I wanted to be part of an organisation that is deeply connected to the needs of local people, and is aligned with my values.

“Ongo plays such an important role for the communities in which it works. I feel that I can make a positive difference working with the team here particularly, in development.”
