ONLY 3 DAYS TO GO UNTIL LINCOLN’S 1940S WEEKEND!

Lincoln’s popular 1940s Weekend, is returning on July 22nd and 23rd, 10am – 5pm for a weekend of fabulous fun in the historic Cathedral Quarter and across the city!

This weekend is one of Lincoln BIG’s biggest events, attracting tens of thousands of visitors to the city. You can expect live singers, vintage cars, market stalls and a planned flypast!

This event is free for all to attend, everyone is invited to visit the Bailgate and Uphill Lincoln.

Lee Roberts, Head of Operations at Lincoln BIG commented “we are delighted to see the positive response online and encourage everyone to take Lincoln’s 1940s weekend as an opportunity to discover some of the city’s best hospitality and retail venues. We look forward to welcoming new and repeat visitors to the city again this year!

“The Lincoln BIG team has worked hard taking in feedback from visitors and local businesses to ensure the event continues to benefit the city. We are pleased to share that this year sees plenty of new attractions and activities for everyone to get involved with, including the vintage mobile cinema.”

Everyone is encouraged to come in period dress to add to the family friendly atmosphere with prizes on offer for the best dressed visitors as well as best dressed business!

The city will be full of atmosphere and tastefully decorated with our patriotic bunting for our biggest 1940s celebration yet.

Lincoln will see:

• Live 1940s music and dance
• Food and drink in the local businesses
• Craft markets
• Classic vehicle displays
• Family activities and pop-up street theatre
• Punch and Judy
• Rhubarb Theatre
• The Tank
• Roy Bond Magician
• Vintage Fairground (including a carousel and children’s swing boats)
• Traditional games
• Mobile Vintage Cinema (free admission)
• Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast by a Lancaster Bomber on Sunday 23rd, at approximately 14.48hrs (weather permitting)
• This year will also see the return of the well-loved Winston Churchill, portrayed by Derek Herbert.

The main hub of the 1940s Weekend will take place in the historic Bailgate and Uphill area of Lincoln, but make sure to look out for other pop-up activities across the city to compliment the weekend – visitors can even get their hair styled to be a classic 1940’s hairdo in Castle Hill!
