Read MoreOngo is taking part in New Homes Week 2024, highlighting their past and present developments, along with tips and plans for the future.
The week, which is delivered by the Home Builders Federation, runs between Monday 26 February to Sunday 3 March, with this year’s theme ‘Tomorrow awaits: Make it yours’.
It was created to provide a positive platform for the home building industry, new build homeowners and potential home buyers to celebrate the benefits of these type of homes.
Highlighted will also be energy efficiency, the buying process and value for money.
Over the last 12 months, Ongo has built a total of 199 new homes and started work on a further 353 in that time.
Along with a high demand for affordable rented properties, more than ever before have been made available for shared ownership and rent to buy. These are targeted at people looking to get onto the property ladder, who are not in a financial position to do so using traditional methods.
Rent to buy offers people the opportunity to rent at a lower cost than market rate, to allow saving for a deposit, giving them the option to then buy their home.
Shared ownership allows for a share of a property (between 25-75%) to be bought and rent to be paid on the rest. Then, when it is affordable, larger shares can be secured until reaching 100%.
Lesley Warburton, Homes & Property Manager at Ongo said: “We’re delighted to be involved in New Homes Week, sharing stories and information to help people understand the options available to them, and the huge benefits these can have.
“It’s a real positive for us to help people, in all different circumstances, who think they’re unable to achieve buying a home to do just that. There are so many more options than just the traditional methods typically talked about.
“It makes me proud to look back on what we’ve achieved in the last 12 months, but also excited that we’re continuing to expand. Please keep an eye out on our website to find out more.”
Judy who moved into an Ongo shared ownership home recently commented: “I would recommend it to anyone. They may be first time buyers struggling to save the deposits needed, someone in my position – newly separated, or anyone really in today’s financial climate who needs a helping hand.”
