Dementia care scheme in Scunthorpe opens doors to public

Myos House (Ongo’s dementia care scheme) in Scunthorpe is opening its doors on Thursday 10 October between 12-5pm to the public and partner agencies.

All are welcome to visit and learn more about what the specialist building, and care team can provide for people living with a dementia diagnosis.

There will be colleagues on hand to chat to and ask questions, tours of the building, access to an apartment, and the chance to network and socialise. Light refreshments will be provided.

Myos House opened in 2021 as the first of its kind building in the area. It has 25 apartments, social amenities, and communal spaces, and has over the years been recognised for the difference it has made to the community.

Anita Catley, Ongo’s Dementia Scheme Officer said: “Myos is such a special place, with amazing residents and a great team of people to support them, so we’re all excited to showcase that at our open day.

“We are not a care home. We provide independent living for individuals with dementia, so that they can live comfortably in a safe and secure setting.

“The specialist facilities and care we have available however, means that people can get the support they need to suit them and stay in their home with family for as long as possible.

“There’ll be entertainment, refreshments, lots of residents who will be happy to chat, a friendly team and lots more, so please do come along. We can’t wait to see lots of you there.”
