Lincolnshire representatives gathered at the House of Lords to discuss the region’s food sector challenges.
The event on March 11, hosted by the UK Fresh Produce Network (UKFPN), featured prominent voices from across Lincolnshire’s food industry, with key speakers including chairman Lord Waverley, head of the Lincolnshire FA Jonathan Van Tam, international trade coach at the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce Eve Farley, and head of the UKFPN Tammy Doughty.
The UKFPN received support from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, distributed by South East Lincolnshire Council’s Partnership, to enable the event.
Eve Farley, representing Business Lincolnshire’s Round Table series and with experience in the Foreign Office and Department for Business and Trade, shared insights into the sector's struggles, especially for exporters.
Eve emphasised the importance of collaboration to navigate regulatory barriers and secure necessary investment.
“This incredible gathering brought together key voices to discuss funding, finance, and trade—critical drivers of business success in today’s global economy,” she said.
The event highlighted Lincolnshire’s potential as a leader in AI-driven agricultural technology and the role of automation in improving supply chain efficiency.
Businesses highlighted, in particular, the challenges in securing funding, as well as the difficulty in navigating complex regulations post-Brexit and the need for a long-term workforce strategy.
