New Access Lincoln Bus Pass Launched
Access Lincoln has launched a new bus pass that will offer even more people cheaper bus travel in and around the city. It also gives jobseekers and apprentices free bus travel for three months to and from their new job.
Created in partnership with Lincoln Business Improvement Group and Stagecoach East Midlands, the new Access Lincoln Bus Pass extends the current Lincoln BIG Bus Deal to include people who work for organisations within the wider Access Lincoln boundary.
That means more people who work in and around Lincoln can now benefit from reduced-cost bus fares.
In addition, newly-employed apprentices and jobseekers will receive a free three-month pass to commute to their new job, as well as for leisure and social use. They will then be able to take advantage of the new reduced-cost bus pass.
To be eligible for the Access Lincoln Bus Pass the employee’s organisation will first need to complete a free personalised travel plan with Access Lincoln.
Over 100 organisations in the Access Lincoln area have already completed the free travel plan, and their employees are eligible to receive the pass and start saving straight away.
There are two types of pass available depending on where you are travelling from.
The ‘Inner’ pass costs £30 per month, a saving of £14 a month compared to the Megarider equivalent, and is valid on any Stagecoach bus service within the Lincoln city boundary, including North Hykeham, Waddington, Branston, Washingborough, Heighington, Skellingthorpe and Nettleham.
The ‘Outer’ pass costs £47 per month, a saving of £15 a month compared to the Megarider Plus equivalent, and is valid on any Stagecoach bus service where people can get on or off within the Lincoln city boundary.
Access Lincoln is a Lincolnshire County Council initiative designed to get more people walking, cycling and using public transport.
Cllr Richard Davies, Executive Member for Highways and Transport at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “Thanks to the new Access Lincoln Bus Pass, even more people working in Lincoln can now enjoy cheaper bus travel, with significant savings each month - up to 30% compared to current deals.
“Businesses will also receive free personalised travel plans, highlighting the different options available to their employees.
“That should encourage even more people to leave the car at home and walk, cycle or catch the bus to work.
"That's better for the environment, promotes a more active lifestyle and helps cut congestion – creating a cleaner, greener city."
