Read MoreBoston are in receipt of nearly half a million pounds from the Government’s Community Champions fund.
The money will help to support a new one year programme and aid in diversification, community engagement and focus on building trust and confidence in public information and sharing. All residents are now being offered the chance to have their say on local needs and investment.
As part of the ‘Empowering Health Communities’ Programme led by Boston Borough Council, locals are being invited to complete a survey where they can share their views on local life and the changes they want to see in their hometown.
The “BIG Boston Survey” will provide residents’ with the chance to share their honest opinions of those in positions of power, expressing thoughts on local amenities and public transport. This survey encourages “seldom heard” residents across the Boston borough the opportunity to anonymously speak up and start conversations on Boston life.
Taking part is easy, and those who share their thoughts will be in with the chance of winning a £50 shopping voucher for their time.
This survey is a chance for Boston residents from all walks of life and every community to be represented and will be vital in determining how the £500,000 grant is spent.
By empowering residents to direct the change they want to see locally, the programme hopes to diversify, enhance and accelerate engagement between Boston’s communities.
Local voices are needed to ensure the best results for the district, which will affect changes such as revised local services to improved health and wellbeing and stronger relationships between Boston’s communities.
Councillor Martin Griggs, Portfolio Holder for Communities at Boston, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for people who live or work in the Borough of Boston to share their views, and will help us to understand how Boston’s communities work and feel.
“This project will support recommendations for how best to engage and empower communities in Boston now and in the future.”
Every survey completed will help to change perceptions of Boston’s communities and cultures and ensure that every family has the opportunity and confidence to get involved with local initiatives.
