Community Action days across our area

Ongo is set to host a series of Community Action days across Scunthorpe and Lincoln to clean up areas, build relationships, identify improvement work and promote Net Zero.

These events will take place throughout the year and are based in areas not previously held before.

On the days, Ongo colleagues will be on hand to offer support on anti-social behaviour, the cost of living and advice on their employment, training and wellbeing services.

They will also be carrying out weed clearing, litter picking, fence painting and other work, along with hosting fun activities to educate tenants on being more environmentally friendly.

The local Police force are also involved with bike marking to prevent and protect from theft and Healthwatch to promote wellbeing.

The first event took place in Crosby, Scunthorpe at the start of April with more than 20 people attending.

One tenant said: “It’s nice to have opportunities like this event for additional work to be carried out in our neighbourhood, plus to meet and speak to staff from Ongo and other local agencies.”

The next events, (all taking place between 10am – 2pm) are:

  • Warley Road, Scunthorpe – 30 May
  • Crosby, Scunthorpe – 27 June
  • Manor Farm area, Scunthorpe – 25 July
  • Earls Walks, Scunthorpe – 12 September
  • Allenby Close, Lincoln – 24 October

Oliver Mortimer, Customer Engagement Officer at Ongo said: “It has been great to launch our 2023 Community Action Days, they’ve been such a success in the past and they make a big difference to people living in those areas.

“It’s so important to us that we visit different areas and build those valuable relationships with our tenants so we can work together to create, safe, clean and nice places to live.

“We have a few more events over the next seven months so if you live at any of the places we’re visiting, make sure you come along, say hello and get involved.”
