Colleagues at web design and digital marketing company DBS Internet Marketing are celebrating after scooping the Employer of the Year gong at the East Midlands heat of the FSB (Federation of Small Businesses) Celebrating Business Awards.
DBS directors Julie Priestley and David Clarke attended the awards ceremony at the Double Tree by Hilton Gateway Hotel in Nottingham on Thursday (14th March 2019).
The Navenby-based agency is now in the running to be crowned UK Employer of the Year in the national final of the awards, which takes place later in the year and is considered one of the highlights of the small business calendar. Julie said: “Winning this award has made us incredibly proud. As a service-based company we rely on our team of employees to deliver the best results to our clients. Without them we wouldn’t have a business, so it is important to us to ensure they are looked after.”
DBS Internet Marketing became an employee-owned business in June 2017, making it the first company in Lincolnshire to be 100% employee owned.
“Like the John Lewis and Partners business structure, DBS employees have a share in the business, and giving them a vested interest in it has meant they are even more committed to our clients and to making DBS a successful company,” said Julie.
David added: “For me, it makes great business sense to reward the very people who have helped build DBS and now that the whole team has equity, we have a vested interest to grow the company even more.”
The FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards recognise the best small businesses and the self-employed across the UK, from every sector and industry and from businesses of all ages and sizes.
The awards are the leading celebration of small businesses, shining a light on some of the best, most innovative and most determined smaller businesses.
DBS Internet Marketing also boasts the FSB East Midlands 2018 Community Business Award, the North Kesteven 2017 Community Business Award and the FSB 2017 Entrepreneur Award for Innovation.
The UK national final of the FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards takes place on Thursday 23rd May 2019 at Evolution Battersea in London.
