Read MoreHighly experienced lawyer Ed Capes is delighted to have re-joined Wilkin Chapman solicitors as a Partner within Lincoln’s Corporate & Commercial team.
For Ed it is a welcome return to the firm where he successfully completed his training contract some 20 years ago. Having obtained degrees in English Law (University of Northumbria) and French Law (Orléans University), Ed first joined Wilkin Chapman at its then offices in Bank Street, Lincoln in 2001.
And he could not be more pleased to be reunited with the team led by Partner Russell Eke: “It is wonderful to be returning and a great opportunity to join Russell and the team. There is such breadth and depth in Corporate & Commercial, and across the firm generally,” said Ed.
Born and raised in Lincolnshire, Ed’s early years saw him as a boarder at the then Lincoln Cathedral School before his education took him to the West Midlands and on to universities in the North East and France.
His heart however remained in his home county and he returned to Lincoln where he competed his training with Wilkin Chapman before experiencing new opportunities both within Lincoln, and in Nottingham where he most recently worked for a large national firm.
Those ventures have now brought him back to his inaugural firm in the city where he and his family have always lived. During his years working in the region, Ed has built up significant experience and has witnessed the rise, and rise, of Lincoln as a burgeoning commercial hub.

“Yes, Lincoln has always been a city, but if you look back it used to have a much smaller commercial centre. That has changed dramatically over recent years”, observed Ed.
“The University has undoubtedly played its part, along with improved infrastructure, and a recognition that this is a great place to live and work,” he said.
“Both in terms of quality and quantity, we are seeing corporate transactions on a scale that we would not have witnessed even a decade ago and the emergence of centres of excellence in the city and across the county, which stimulate and support exciting and fast-growing businesses,” added Ed.
Welcoming Ed back as a Partner, Russell Eke said:
“Our highly experienced team comprises of talented solicitors who have a particular passion for supporting and sharing in the success of our businesses here, building up relationships that will last over many years.
“Ed undoubtedly has that drive and passion, and I am delighted that he is joining us.”
