Ten Point Plan for Green Growth – Low Carbon Hydrogen

Held by East Midlands Chamber of Commerce in partnership with other organisations, this session is one of a series of virtual roundtable events that will provide the business community with the opportunity to hear how the Ten Point Plan for Green Growth in the Midlands Engine sets out, with a unified voice, the Midlands Engine Partnership’s collective plan and actions to be taken in partnership which will accelerate both the Midlands and the UK’s path to net zero.

This interactive session will cover the theme of “Low Carbon Hydrogen”

 

In December 2021, the Midlands Engine published the Midlands Engine Hydrogen Technologies Strategy. As the manufacturing heartland of the UK, the Midlands has unrivalled expertise and capacity to make and apply low carbon hydrogen technologies to deliver net zero.

It is hydrogen technologies that have the power to connect hydrogen generators and end users – and it is the Midlands that has the power to make those technologies. The aim of the low carbon hydrogen theme is to:

  • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
  • Capitalise on regional, world-leading hydrogen expertise
  • Reduce energy costs and imports
  • Improve energy security
  • Create high-value jobs Increase public and private investment opportunities
  • Strengthen regional leadership in transport, logistics and heating sectors

  • Overview of the Energy Research Accelorator (ERA) and HyDEX programme  – Faye McAnulla, Programme Director, Energy Research Accelerator (ERA), University of Nottingham
  • Interactive discussion on the theme
