Read MoreEasement for Exporters Declarations Ending 31st December 2021
As detailed within the UK-EU Trade Facilitation Agreement (TCA), up until the 31st of December 2021 exporters have been able to state the origin of the goods without necessarily holding the evidence to prove this. Companies were allowed to do this as a temporary easement when the TCA was introduced.
From the 1st of January 2022 however exporters will need to hold the evidence to support any origin claim made. HMRC or EU customs authorities may request this evidence from the 1st of January 2022.
If an exporter is unable to evidence the origin of their goods, they must notify their customers to ensure preference is not claimed incorrectly.
This applies to all international trade agreements.
Trade with China
We have been made aware that from the 1st of January 2022 food exporters to China will need to be registered with Chinese Customs authorities in order to get goods cleared at China’s border.
If you are an exporter that uses China as a destination, we suggest you contact your customers in China to get more details.
You can find the new regulations in Chinese and an unverified copy of the translation in English which may be useful by clicking here and here.
If you have any questions about the above, you can contact one of our expert International Trade team via email at international@lincs-chamber.co.uk or by calling the main switchboard on 01522 523333 and choosing option 3.
