Naomi of NW Counselling Hub has her fingers crossed for success

An inspirational Lincolnshire businesswoman is thrilled to learn that she has been shortlisted in two prestigious competitions.

Naomi Watkins-Ligudzinska, who is Chief Executive of the Naomi Watkins Counselling Hub Community Interest Company (NWCH CIC) in Lincoln, revealed the good news on International Women’s Day (March 8), which celebrates the success stories of women worldwide.

Regionally, Naomi is a finalist in the 2022 East Midlands Leadership Awards, which will be presented at the Crowne Plaza in Nottingham on March 10.

Nationally, she is also among an impressive group of high-flyers from the worlds of travel, education, tech, music and many more, who have been shortlisted in the annual NatWest WISE100 list.

It recognises the most inspiring and influential women within social enterprise, impact investment and mission-driven businesses. The four winners will be announced on March 18.

NatWest Social & Community Capital CEO Megan Virrels said: “We are so pleased to welcome our 2022 cohort of WISE100 women and to congratulate them on their place in this year’s list.

“Against the pandemic backdrop of the past two years, nominations have remained strong, with exceptional times also generating many stories of exceptional leadership.”

Naomi said:  “Both shortlistings are recognising the great work NWCH has achieved with my leadership and support of the fantastic team behind me.

The NWCH CIC offers a wide range of therapy to everyone from children as young as four years old to older people. Its disciplines, and its therapists’ expertise, covers everything from bullying to child, domestic and sexual abuse, bereavement, self-harm and suicide ideation.

Naomi, who also personally counsels clients and offers structured training/coaching to the aspiring counsellors of tomorrow, has already been recognised for her work as a mission-focused enterprise which puts purpose on an equal footing with sustainability.

The Counselling Hub, which is five years old and which has supported over 3,500 people to date,  found itself working at capacity throughout the Coronavirus pandemic, in an effort to change, and even save, lives.

“At the height of the pandemic, demand for our services saw team members counselling up to 800 people a month.  We rose to the challenge by transitioning from offering face-to-face to delivering online and telephone support because it was vital to keep our client’s recovery on track,” said Naomi.

“It was a very challenging time, but we are very proud of what we accomplished. We are determined to continue working hard to win funding, because we are as keen to help people who are unable to afford counselling support, as those who pay for our services,” she added.
