The Search is On for a New Greater Lincolnshire LEP Chair

The Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership has begun its search for a new Chair to succeed Pat Doody after his term as board director and more latterly Chair draws to a close in spring 2023.

The new Chair will be a private-sector appointment and the successful candidate will, along with the CEO Ruth Carver, lead the organisation through the next phase of development.

The successful candidate will be a collaborative business leader who will build on the LEP’s four game-changing sector developments across energy, food, ports and defence and lead the LEP’s projects and programmes to drive economic growth.

With an outstanding knowledge of the Greater Lincolnshire business environment, the new Chair will have the credibility to represent the area at a regional and national level and will possess superb ambassadorial and negotiating skills.

He or she will ensure that the LEP functions effectively within a framework of corporate governance and transparency in line with the LEP’s robust structures, and with a style that encourages a collaborative approach to setting strategic priorities and decision making.

He or she will take on a three-month handover role following board approval in early 2023. The LEP would particularly like to encourage women and people from diverse backgrounds to apply for the role.

“Since it was formed a decade ago the LEP has established a first-class public / private partnership that approaches business growth and local regeneration in a positive and commercial manner,” said Ruth Carver, Chief Executive of the Greater Lincolnshire LEP.

“The new Chair will embrace this approach. Their fresh ideas will help us to navigate the current period of change as the Government focuses on delivering the levelling up agenda and devolution deals.

“We need a Chair with strong business acumen and political astuteness who will be happy and comfortable representing the Greater Lincolnshire LEP at a range of events, including discussions with Government ministers, ensuring that Lincolnshire’s issues are understood in Whitehall.”

Since 2010 the LEP has created over 3,500 jobs and 800 new businesses and delivered 75 major growth projects and programmes, bringing jobs and skills to the region.

The LEP has supported over 8,500 learners and apprentices, and through its Careers Hub more than 100 Enterprise Advisers from across business and industry are supporting students in their career choices.

The LEP has unlocked investment worth over £500 million for transformational schemes and is fundamentally improving the economy and infrastructure of Greater Lincolnshire.
