Read MoreOn Thursday 27 June, Ongo hosted a career fair at their Cole Street office in Scunthorpe.
This event was to help local people get into work and receive employment support.
It was also a chance for the team and the other organisations attending to highlight any opportunities they have available to help locals gain employment, support and training.
Approximately 40 people attended the event throughout the day, and they were also joined by local businesses GS Kelsey, Birch Chemicals and Humberside Fire and Rescue.
There was information on career progression, help with writing a CV, teaching on interview techniques, free training to book onto and vacancies to apply for.
Carol Richardson, Community Engagement & Volunteer Manager said, “The event was great, we had so many people turn up throughout the day looking to gain support or new skills to help them through employment. I love doing events like this, it makes it all worthwhile when you see the success of people getting into work.
“I want to say thank you to everyone who came along and to the businesses that came and got involved.”
Carl Willerton, Recruitment Manager at Ongo Recruitment said, “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door, that’s what we did at Cole Street, we built a door for candidates and local companies to meet and create opportunities. The feedback from our candidates was amazing, there was a real buzz around the office, and everyone involved took something positive from the day.”
Sam Stone, Financial Controller at GS Kelsey who attended on the day said, “We were pleased to be invited and a part of the careers fair. We felt that it was definitely worthwhile and professionally run by all the staff at Cole Street.”
Ongo will be hosting another event like this later in the year for Employability Day. This is a day that aims to get people back into work by getting them the help and support they might need. There will be more details on this to follow.
