Read MoreFrom achieving Leaders in Diversity, to beginning work on their first carbon neutral homes, Ongo had a number of significant achievements in 2022.
In total they handed keys over to 831 homes, began building 154 more and spent millions on investment projects for their existing stock.
Their journey to net zero by 2050 began. This focuses on their assets, the work they do with partners, raising awareness and supporting the education of colleagues and customers.
As part of this, smart home technology trials kicked off to make existing homes more efficient. Switchee devices were installed to several homes to monitor performance of air source heat pumps, environmental sensors to detect conditions causing damp and mould, and virtual assistance repairs were launched.
As the cost of living crisis hit, they announced a package of support for their tenants. From warm spaces and food free of charge at several of their buildings, hosting free events, money advice sessions and mental health counselling.
Employment support has again been in high demand with over 350 people accessing this. Of these, 79 are now in employment.
Going into 2023, the team has secured funding to introduce the ‘Multiply project’, for adults over the age of 19 based in North Lincolnshire to gain basic numeracy skills, and have plans to increase their job and training services.
Over 50 new homes were completed in the year, with a standout £5.2million development of 37 homes on Station Road, Scunthorpe. This incorporated two, three and four-bedroom homes for affordable rent, and rent to buy.
Steve Hepworth, Chief Exec at Ongo said: “It has been another busy year focussed on offering a range of support and opportunities within our communities.
“Our net zero and smart home technology work, plus seeing the return of events such as the Customer Conference and Ongo Carnival has been brilliant.
“I say it every year, but I am so honoured and privileged to work alongside such fantastic colleagues and customers, who make all these achievements possible. I’d like to say a huge thank you to them.
“2023 is going to be an altogether challenging year, however, we have many things to be excited about and we can’t wait to share them with you.”
