Read MoreThis summer Ongo held more than 20 summer events for families to get involved in across North Lincolnshire and surrounding areas.
The Arc, in Westcliff, Scunthorpe held arts and crafts afternoons, street dancing classes, trips to the Ongo allotment, a day out to Cleethorpes, youth activities and a sports day held at Quibell Park.
Victoria Bradshaw, Activities & Families Co-ordinator at The Arc said, “These activities are so important, especially during the summer holidays, they keep the children entertained.
“We do loads of work throughout the year to improve neighbourhoods and engage with the communities we work in, so for me it’s been great to see people come together and build relationships.”
Viking Resource Centre in Barton had a jam-packed timetable too, with a trip to Yorkshire wildlife park for 75 people, mini mobile zoo, treasure hunt, trip to Cleethorpes, arts and crafts, first aid training, design and build your own kites, dodgeball and a trip to East Park in Hull.
Michelle Booty and Aimee Williams both attended the trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park last month. Aimee commented on Facebook saying: “We had a brilliant day, thank you to you and HSBC for organising” and Michelle said, “Fantastic day, thank you everyone.”
In total over 250 people benefited from the activities and events, most of which were completely free of charge.
Grace Woolley, Viking Centre Co-ordinator said: “We’ve had lots of fun over the holidays, it’s so nice for the community to come together and enjoy each other’s company and the activities we’ve put on.”
“It’s very important for us to continue to build relationships and engage with local people so we can give them any support they need.”
We also held the Ongo Carnival, where over 2,000 people attended, which was another successful event in the middle of the school holidays.
