Thrive Lincolnshire – £1M for Lincolnshire communities

Lincolnshire Community Foundation launch campaign to raise £1M, so Greater Lincolnshire communities can Thrive during the Poverty Pandemic.

As the gap between the most wealthy and poorest people widens, Staff and Trustees at Lincolnshire Community Foundation recognise the urgency of raising funds that will help improve the lives of 1000’s of residents across Greater Lincolnshire being impacted because of rising energy, food and fuel costs. Those who were already living below the poverty line, have been plunged even deeper into poverty and families who were just about managing are worried they can’t make ends meet. It would be an incredible achievement if we all gave together for the greater good of people living across our wonderful county.

This might be described as the pandemic of poverty affecting the quality of life for you, a family member, friend, or neighbour.

Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert reports “I’ve been through the financial crash, I’ve been through Covid. This is the worst, where we are right now.’

Something needs to be done now. In response, the Foundation is launching Thrive Lincolnshire, a campaign to raise £1M, by inviting individuals, corporate and other partners to donate to the appeal. We recognise this will be a challenge but given the pressures people are likely to face in the coming months (and longer), we want to be sure we can offer funding to charitable organisations delivering frontline services, allowing them to support our various communities and cover their increased costs.

We are aiming to start making grants to organisations as soon as possible and will fund crucial local work such as debt advice, warm spaces, food banks, domestic abuse, mental health interventions, supporting families, people with disabilities, older people etc.

We can all play a part in trying to make life better for Lincolnshire residents as every pound raised will make a difference. If you would like to donate, visit https://www.totalgiving.co.uk/appeal/Thrive

Sue Fortune, CEO at Lincolnshire Community Foundation says:

“I’ve been with the Foundation since it was founded over 20 years ago and have seen how grant funding impacts the lives of ordinary folk through the good work of local charitable groups and organisations. It’s clear the cost-of-living crisis is having a devastating effect on individuals and families and touching all our lives and, in response, Lincolnshire Community Foundation will make £50,000 available to establish this appeal and encourage others to donate to it. We’ll make sure funds are redistributed to address the immediate and future needs of our most vulnerable residents.”
