Read MoreWith the UK government committing to a 78% reduction in carbon emissions by 2035, Lincoln-based print and design company Visual Print and Design have pledged to do their part too.
Over the last 12 months, they have tracked their energy usage as a business and have commissioned trees to be planted in Lincolnshire in a bid to reduce their impact on the environment.
With help from EFOREST, a not-for-profit organisation helping to combat climate change by restoring woodlands throughout the UK, Visual Print and Design have been able to plant 10 Hazel trees in Hill Holt Wood in Lincolnshire, which will go towards offsetting 4.58 tonnes of CO2.
As well as this, Visual Print and Design now capture their CO2 emissions through their paper purchases for their digital print runs and have invested in alternative, sustainable promotional merchandise items including bottles made from plastic collected from coastlines and pencils that can grow into trees.
Graham Hunstone, Managing Director at Visual Print and Design said: Every day in the UK each of us contributes to climate change. That’s why we take sustainability very seriously at Visual Print and Design and it plays a key role in how we operate.
We cannot remove our carbon footprint entirely so we wanted to offset it in the most sustainable way and help our clients reduce their carbon footprint where they can with the use of recyclable and sustainably sourced stock.”
The prime minister’s commitments to climate change brings forward the current target for reducing carbon emissions by 15 years. The new target would enter into law by the end of June 2021 and hitting the targets would require more electric cars, low-carbon heating, renewable electricity and would also mean us cutting down on meat and dairy.
