A free event to showcase employment, career guidance and training opportunities in West Lindsey will take place next month.
The West Lindsey Employment & Skills Partnership is hosting a skills fair at The Blues Club, North Street, Gainsborough on Tuesday, June 12.
The event titled “Step up to Your Future” will take place from 1pm - 4pm, offering all local residents access to help and advice from employers, training providers and advice agencies.
Local employers and organisations promoting career opportunities and training in the district will be available to speak to, with experts on hand to talk about the skills employers are looking for.
Speaking on behalf of the partnership, Mike Johnson from LAGAT Training & Recruitment said: “The skills fair is a great opportunity for those seeking work, thinking of changing job, considering an apprenticeship or even setting up on their own.
“Last year, we were delighted to see more than 200 people attend to find out about the 65 plus job vacancies and apprenticeships available from 35 of our exhibitors.
“We were delighted to see representatives from British Steel, Gelder Group, ACIS and the RAF. This year we look forward to showcasing the Made in Gainsborough Engineering apprenticeship project.
“We hope to see lots of people attending this invaluable event as it is a key opportunity for people to “step up to their future.”
West Lindsey District Council is coordinating this event on behalf of the Partnership. Cllr Reg Shore member champion for Employment and Skills at West Lindsey District Council said: “This is a great opportunity for people to meet prospective employers and discuss what they are looking for and any current vacancies. Our own skills advisor will also be available on the day to offer support.”
Useful workshops will take place on the day, focused on helping people develop their job hunting options and preparation for employment.
The event is suitable to anyone interested or considering the following:
As well as employers, and training providers, there will also be a number of voluntary organisation’s who will be offering advice and support.
Heather Arnatt, Area Co-ordinator from Voluntary Centre Services said: “Last year’s event was a huge success and we are delighted to be returning to the event this year. If you are thinking about becoming a volunteer, have experience of volunteering, or you need volunteers to help in your organisation, our friendly Volunteer Advisors are here to help you.”
If your organisation would like to exhibit at the event please contact Amanda Bouttell on 01427 676562 or email Amanda.Bouttell@west-lindsey.gov.uk
We are looking for employers, training providers and advice agencies that would be willing to volunteer their time to talk to local residents about the local opportunities available - either through the use of an exhibition stand, or by delivering interactive activities. The purpose of the event is to highlight employment opportunities and to enable people to take a step forward in a positive direction.
We’d particularly like to encourage employers with jobs and apprenticeship vacancies to attend. Please feel free to forward this onto your contacts if you feel it would be beneficial.
