YMCA Lincolnshire offers Age-friendly Awareness Training to local businesses

YMCA Lincolnshire are excited to announce that following two really successful training sessions, they are ready to roll out Lincolnshire’s first free Pilot: Age-friendly Awareness Training sessions an immersive face to face training session.

These sessions are targeted at groups and organisations who are looking to develop new ways of working to improve access for older residents within communities.

This training aims to improve services by raising awareness of some of the challenges, such as ageism, and barriers that older people can face when using services in later life. Here the charity will explore the ageing process. Participants will explore the impact of ageing on the quality of daily life and look at the physical environment and suggest ways it could be more accessible to older people.

As well as conventional presentations and quizzes, Age-friendly Awareness Training for Lincolnshire will involve a highly practical element: wearing a simulation suit to complete day to day activities. The suit, complete with vision-impairment glasses and hearing defenders, aims to simulate some of the physical impairments which can develop as people grow older, such as reduced dexterity and mobility, and vision and hearing impairments.

Local organisations are invited to attend one or both of our free face to face pilot sessions in Lincoln at The Showroom on the 5th July 2022 or Louth 29th June at the Meridian Leisure Centre to experience the value of training first-hand.

Spaces are limited so reserve your spot by emailing Amy.Needham@Lincsymca.co.uk
